Cookies and Web beacons are small pieces of information "remembered" by your browser. ShoppingTrader uses cookies and Web beacons to help you navigate our site faster and to help us provide more personalised service to you. We also use cookies to keep track of page views, ads, and overall page flow, as outlined in the Privacy Policy.
Note: ShoppingTrader does not permit third parties we work with to collect personally identifiable information about you from cookies or Web beacons. ShoppingTrader has always clearly explained how we use cookies, and we'll continue to do so.
Third parties
ShoppingTrader does not permit any third parties we work with, including AOL, to collect personally identifiable information through the use of cookies in ads. We check our software from time to time to review that third parties we work with are not collecting any personally identifiable information in ads via cookies or Web beacons.
Search
If you enter a search term like "red fire engine" on the ShoppingTrader Search page, you'll see a line in the source code that reads "kw=red fire engine". The search term becomes the keyword, which allows the code to search ShoppingTrader for the search term.
ShoppingTrader does associate banners with keywords. However, ShoppingTrader's policy is that we do not serve up banner ads that compete directly with the search term you enter.
Web Beacons
Web beacons are 1x1 pixel clear GIFs placed in the Web page code. ShoppingTrader uses Web beacons for many of the same purposes as we use cookies, as well as to track the traffic patterns of users from one page to another so we can maximise our site traffic patterns.
Discussion board cookies
Our third-party service provider for the discussion boards (Member to Member Help, The Round Table, etc.) uses session cookies to facilitate conversation threads and overall service functions.
Note: ShoppingTrader does not permit third-party content on ShoppingTrader (such as an item listing) to include cookies or Web beacons, although this may still happen from time to time. If you believe a listing may be collecting personal information or using cookies, please report it to ???????????.
